How to crop a PDF
- Open the PDF you want to trim.
- Drag on the page to draw the area you want to keep, or choose a trim from every edge.
- Use Trim this page only or Trim all pages to say how much of the document the area applies to.
- Select Create cropped PDF, then Download to save it.
Crop a PDF and keep the file, not a picture of it
PDFCheetah writes a smaller visible area onto each page you trim, on this device. The document is not rebuilt: what you get back is your own file with a new visible area on the pages you chose, so text stays selectable, vector artwork stays sharp, and form fields, bookmarks and page labels come through. Pages of different sizes keep the same proportions rather than the same rectangle, so a wider page is trimmed by the same share of its width. Before the download appears, PDFCheetah opens the finished file again on this device, checks its page count and reads a sample of its pages in full.
What cropping does not do
Cropping sets the page's visible area, so the trimmed material is still inside the file and a reader can restore it — anyone who needs the content gone should remove the pages instead. Cropping also barely changes the file's size, because nothing is thrown away.
Current limitations
Finding the printed area automatically, cropping to a paper size, and cropping several files at once are not included. A note or link near a trimmed edge keeps the position it had on the page and can fall outside the new visible area. Always verify signed, certified, tagged, form-heavy, or archival PDFs in the reader used by the recipient.

- Does cropping delete the content outside the area I keep?
- No. Cropping sets the page's visible area, so the trimmed material is still inside the file and a reader can restore it. Anyone who needs the content gone should remove the pages instead.
- Is my PDF uploaded to crop it?
- No. The pages are measured and the new visible area is written in your browser, and the file never leaves this device. Download the result, or use Share on a phone.
- Can I crop every page at once?
- Yes. Draw the area on one page and give it to the whole document in one press. Pages of different sizes keep the same proportions rather than the same rectangle, so a wider page is trimmed by the same share of its width.
- Does cropping make the file smaller?
- Barely. Nothing is thrown away, so the file stays about the size it was. Compress PDF is the tool for making a PDF smaller.
- Will it work on a page that is already turned or already cropped?
- Yes. The preview shows each page the way its own file turns and trims it, and the area you draw is measured against that, so the finished PDF opens at what you saw.
- Can I undo a crop?
