A PDF that came out back to front
A stack fed face down, or a document assembled from the last page forward, comes out in reverse — and reversing it back is one press. It is worth knowing before you do that this tool reverses the whole document and nothing less. Bookmarks, fillable forms and links between pages come through.
Which tool you need
The whole document is in the opposite order
Reverse PDF pages. The preview flips last page first, and one more press writes the reversed file.
Only part of the document is out of order
Organize PDF. Reversing here is all or nothing, and Organize lets you drag the pages that are wrong into place while leaving the rest alone. It also has a one-click reverse for a document you already have open there.
The pages are in the right order but upside down
Rotate PDF. A scan fed the wrong way often comes out both reversed and turned, which is two jobs: reverse the order here, then rotate the pages there.
The document has a contents page or bookmarks you need
Reversing keeps them, and each one still opens the page it pointed at. The bookmarks list keeps its original order, though, so if the document is a report rather than a scan, reorder it in Organize PDF instead.
What comes through
Bookmarks, fillable forms and links between pages all survive. A link that jumped from one page to another still lands on the same page in its new place, and each bookmark still opens its page. Links out to a website are unaffected too.
What does not change is the order of the bookmarks list, so on a report the list will read back to front against the pages. A scanned stack has no bookmarks, so there it costs nothing.
What it does not change
Only the order the pages are written in. No page is redrawn, so text stays selectable and searchable and vector artwork stays sharp — the reversed file is the same pages in the opposite sequence, not a picture of them.
Before the download appears, the finished file is opened again on this device, its page count checked and a sample of its pages read in full.
What to know before you start
- The whole document is reversed. Reversing a range of pages, or reversing odd and even pages separately, is not part of this tool.
- An encrypted document is refused rather than reversed, with a message saying it needs a password. Take the password off with Unlock PDF first, on this device.
- The bookmarks list keeps its original order. Always check a signed, certified, tagged, form-heavy or archival PDF in the reader your recipient uses.
- Nothing is uploaded and your original is untouched. Everything happens in the browser you are reading this in, and the reversed copy is written to this device.
