Why there is no daily limit, and no upload
How to turn images into a PDF
- Choose the pictures, one or many, in any mix of JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, AVIF, TIFF and HEIC. Each one becomes a page, and every page of a multi-page TIFF becomes a page.
- Drag the pictures into the order you want, or move them with the arrows. Turn a sideways picture with Rotate left 90° or Rotate right 90°.
- Choose the page: the picture’s own shape, or A4 or US Letter with a margin, fitted inside the page or filling it.
- Select Create PDF, then Download to save it.
What happens to each format
A JPG’s picture data goes into the PDF byte for byte, and a PNG is kept lossless with its transparency. WebP, GIF, BMP, AVIF, TIFF and HEIC pictures are opened on this device and saved into the PDF as they look on screen, so nothing about them is uploaded; an animated GIF or WebP gives its first frame, and a picture with deeper or wider color than a screen shows is saved at standard color. Camera details such as the location and date are not carried into the PDF.
Current limitations
A HEIC photo opens only in a browser that can read HEIC itself, which today is Safari on a Mac and every browser on an iPhone or iPad (iOS 17 or later); elsewhere, save it as JPG first. An AVIF picture likewise needs a browser that opens AVIF. No text is read out of the pictures, so a photographed page is not searchable.
Common questions
- Are my pictures uploaded?
- No. Your pictures are opened, converted where a format needs it, and written into the PDF in your browser, and they are never sent anywhere. Download the PDF, or use Share on a phone.
- Which picture formats can I turn into a PDF?
- JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, AVIF, TIFF and HEIC, in any mix. Every picture becomes a page, and every page of a multi-page TIFF becomes a page of its own. HEIC opens only in a browser that reads HEIC itself: Safari on a Mac, and any browser on an iPhone or iPad (iOS 17 or later). AVIF needs a browser that opens AVIF. A TIFF saved with an unusual compression may not open; save it again as PNG or JPG.
- Does converting reduce the quality of my pictures?
- Not for most pictures. A JPG's picture data goes into the PDF unchanged, unless its camera recorded it as mirrored, and a PNG is stored without loss with its transparency. Every other format is opened on this device and stored without loss as it looks on screen. The exception is a picture with deeper or wider color than a standard screen shows, as many newer iPhone photos have: it is saved at standard color, so its most saturated colors can look a little flatter.
- What happens to an animated GIF or WebP?
- Its first frame becomes the page. A PDF page holds a still picture, so the rest of the animation is left out.
- Do my photos' location and camera details end up in the PDF?
- No. The location, the date and the other details a camera or an app stores inside a picture are not carried into the PDF, whichever format the picture came in.
- Can I mix formats and choose the order?
- Yes. Every picture appears in one preview, in the order it will be written, whatever its format. Drag a picture by its grip, use the arrows on it, or move it from the keyboard; pictures can be turned or removed, and anything you change can be undone.
- What size will the pages be?
- By default every page is the same shape as its picture, with no borders. Choose A4 or US Letter to put every picture on the same paper, fitted inside the page or filling it, with or without a margin.
- Will the words in my pictures be searchable?
- No. A PDF made from pictures holds them as pictures, so the words in a photographed page or a screenshot cannot be searched or selected. PDFCheetah does not read text out of pictures.
