How to convert a PDF to TIFF
- Open the PDF whose pages you want as TIFF pictures.
- Every page starts selected. Select only the ones you need, or leave them all.
- Choose a resolution — 300 DPI is what most archives and print shops ask for — and whether the background stays white or transparent.
- Select the save button, then Download: one page saves as one TIFF, several save as a ZIP with one TIFF per page.
For archives, printers and document systems
TIFF is the picture format records offices, fax software and document management systems expect, because it stores every pixel without loss. PDFCheetah draws each selected page at the resolution you choose, turned and cropped the way the file shows it, and writes it as a TIFF on this device, packed without loss. Nothing is compressed away, so text and lines stay crisp, and the files are much larger than a JPG of the same page.
Current limitations
Each page is its own TIFF; the pages are not gathered into one multi-page TIFF file. A TIFF is a picture of the page, so its text cannot be selected or searched, and links and form fields stop working. A page too large for this device to draw at the chosen resolution is refused before anything runs. Password-protected PDFs cannot be opened here yet: use Unlock PDF first if you know the password.
Common questions
- Is my PDF uploaded to make the TIFF files?
- No. Every page is drawn in your browser and saved as a TIFF on this device. Nothing is sent anywhere.
- Do I get one multi-page TIFF?
- No. Each page is saved as its own TIFF. One page downloads as one TIFF, and several download as a ZIP with one TIFF per page, numbered by page.
- Which resolution should I choose for TIFF?
- 300 DPI is what most archives and print shops ask for. 150 DPI is sharp on any screen with smaller files, and you can type your own number.
- Can the TIFF background be transparent?
- Yes. Turn on the transparent background and anything the page leaves unpainted stays see-through in the TIFF.
