PDF to EPUB, reflowed for e-readers
PDFCheetah's free PDF to EPUB tool reflows the text of the PDF pages you pick into an e-book in your browser — chapters found from its headings — and your file never leaves your device.

Why there is no daily limit, and no upload
How to convert a PDF to EPUB
- Open the PDF — a book, a report, a long article.
- Give it a title and an author for the e-reader’s library, if you like.
- Select Convert to EPUB, then Download the .epub and open it in Apple Books, Kobo, Google Play Books, or send it to a Kindle.
What happens to the text
A PDF fixes every line to a page; an EPUB lets the reader choose the size. PDFCheetah reads the text in reading order, mends words broken across lines, drops running headers, footers and page numbers, finds headings from larger type and starts a chapter at each main one. Nothing is uploaded: the book is made in this browser tab.
Current limitations
Pictures, tables and the PDF’s fonts and colors are not carried over: the EPUB holds the text. Pages with columns side by side may read out of order, and the result says which. A scanned page has no words to read. Password-protected PDFs cannot be opened here yet: use Unlock PDF first if you know the password.
Common questions
- Is my PDF uploaded to make the EPUB?
- No. The text is read and the book is written in your browser, on this device. Nothing is sent anywhere.
- How are the chapters made?
- From the PDF's headings: text set clearly larger than the body is a heading, and each main heading starts a chapter. Running headers, footers and page numbers are dropped, and words broken across lines are joined.
- Are pictures and tables included?
- No. The EPUB holds the text only: pictures, tables and the PDF's fonts and colors are not carried over.
- Which PDFs convert best?
- Single-column text, such as books, reports and long articles. Pages with columns side by side may read out of order, and the result says which. A scanned page has no text to read.
- Which e-readers open it?
- Apple Books, Kobo and Google Play Books open it as it is, and Amazon's Send to Kindle accepts EPUB files.
