Why there is no daily limit, and no upload
How to scan paper to PDF with your phone
- Photograph each page, flat and well lit, or choose photos you already have.
- Drag the four corners of each photo to the corners of the page. Use Turn page if it was photographed sideways.
- Choose the page size and Color, Grayscale or Black and white, then Create PDF.
Straighten a scanned PDF
Choose a PDF instead of photos and each page is measured for how far it leans, from its lines of text, and turned straight. You can change any page’s angle before you save. This is what “deskew” means.
What happens to your photos
Each photo is flattened from its four corners in this browser tab — the perspective is undone pixel by pixel on your device — and nothing is uploaded. The camera opens through your phone’s own camera app; this page never sees a live camera.
Current limitations
The corners are yours to place: they start at the photo’s edges and are not found automatically. The text is not made searchable (there is no OCR), and a curled page or a book’s curved spine is flattened only as a flat sheet would be. Straightening turns what is drawn on each page; comments, links and form fields stay where they were, and a page’s corners can be cut slightly. Photos are JPEG, PNG or WebP; HEIC is not read here. One photo can be up to 64 MB and 100 megapixels, and the photos in one PDF up to 1 GB together, chosen 100 MB at a time on a phone. Password-protected PDFs cannot be opened here yet: use Unlock PDF first if you know the password.
Common questions
- Are my photos uploaded to make the scan?
- No. Each photo is flattened and the PDF is written in your browser, on this device. Nothing is sent anywhere, and the page never sees a live camera: photos come from your phone's own camera app.
- Does it find the edges of the page by itself?
- No. The four corners start at the edges of the photo, and you drag each one to a corner of the page, so the page is cut exactly where you put them.
- Can I straighten a PDF that was scanned crooked?
- Yes. Choose the PDF instead of photos and each page is measured for how far it leans, from its lines of text, and turned straight. You can change any page's angle before you save.
- Will I be able to search the text of the scan?
- No. The pages are pictures of the paper, and text recognition (OCR) is not available here.
