JSON to PDF, pretty-printed or as a table
PDFCheetah's free JSON to PDF tool lays out a JSON file as indented PDF pages in your browser — or a list of records as a table — and your file never leaves your device.

How to turn a JSON file into a PDF
- Choose a .json file — an API response, a configuration, an export.
- Choose line numbers, the text size and the page. A list of records can be set as a table instead.
- Select Create PDF, then Download.
What you get
The file pretty-printed: one member to a line, indented by depth, with every number and string exactly as written — long numbers are not rounded. A file that is a list of flat records can be set as a table with one column per key and the header repeated on every page. JSON Lines files are read too. Nothing is uploaded.
Current limitations
A file that is not valid JSON is still listed, with the fault named at the top. Colors are not used for syntax. The Fonts setting decides which scripts are drawn; characters beyond the chosen level are drawn as a replacement mark, and the result says how many.
Common questions
- Is my JSON file uploaded to make the PDF?
- No. The file is read and set as pages in your browser, and the PDF is written on this device. Nothing is sent anywhere.
- How is the JSON laid out?
- Pretty-printed: one member to a line, indented by depth, with every number and string exactly as written, so long numbers are not rounded. Each line can be numbered.
- Can it make a table?
- Yes, when the file is a list of flat records. Each key becomes a column, and the header row is repeated at the top of every page.
- Are JSON Lines files read?
- Yes. A file with one JSON value on each line is read and listed too.
- What if the JSON is not valid?
- It is still listed as written, with the fault named at the top so you can find it.
